Managing uVegas the Game Dev Way

Hey everyone,
my name is Lena and I handle social media, marketing and community management for uVegas. Welcome to another update from our team.
If you haven’t heard of us yet, uVegas (Playtest on itch.io) is our suite of multiplayer casino assets for Unity, designed to bring authentic casino gameplay to your own projects. Our goal is to deliver scalable, secure, and smooth multiplayer experiences for Blackjack, Poker, Roulette, and Slots.
Right now, our team is focused on Blackjack, the first title in the lineup and the foundation for our upcoming casino framework. The full suite will roll out step by step, with the core systems for additional games like Poker planned for 2026.
Today I want to share a bit about how we manage the project behind the scenes and give you an insider look at the tools that help us stay on top of everything.
🧩 Project Management for Game Devs and Asset Creators
There are tons of project management tools out there, but if you are a game developer, you probably want more than just Jira boards and Gantt charts. You want something that feels like it belongs in game development, something that reminds you every day that you are building games.
For small teams and indie devs, free tiers are essential. We have found a combination of tools that keeps us organized while still keeping the process fun.
🎮 HacknPlan – Internal Game Dev Management
Internally, we use HacknPlan for production tracking. The tool is built specifically for game development, and that makes a huge difference.
We maintain multiple boards for different areas of uVegas:
- uVegas Core for the shared framework.
- Playtest for active builds and testing feedback.
- Marketing and Social Media for content planning and release timing.
- Website for updates and asset pages.
HacknPlan makes it easy to link design concepts with tasks. Everyone on the team can stay aligned on progress. It feels like using Trello, but designed by people who actually make games.
🃏 Codecks – Community Roadmaps with a Game Feel
For sharing progress publicly and involving our community, we discovered Codecks.io. The gamified card layout instantly clicked with us.
We use it to maintain a public roadmap, where anyone can see what is in progress and what is coming next for uVegas: Blackjack and our upcoming assets. The Unity and Discord integrations help keep developers and community feedback in sync. Planning the roadmap here is actually fun.
📘 GitBook– Clean Docs for Devs and Non-Devs
Since our assets are for Unity, we need clear documentation for both developers and non-technical contributors. Here is where GitBook comes in.
Developers can update docs directly through Git, and non-technical authors like me can use the visual interface to create and expand content without touching any code 🙂. It is easy to use and makes sure our documentation stays professional and public ready.
🎯 Final Thoughts
When you build games or game assets, you want your tools to feel like they belong in that world. Using tools made for game development keeps us motivated and makes daily management enjoyable.
For us, HacknPlan, Codecks, and GitBook strike the perfect balance. They are powerful enough for real production while still being friendly for small teams in the free tier.
💬 What about you
